Headquartered in Lone Tree, Colorado, we thought it would be fun to take a break from our normal blog content, and shout out some of our favorite local businesses. We polled our staff and asked them: what do you know a lot about? Why do you know a lot about it, and what can you recommend to our audience in this area? Here are their answers:

Kristy McClurken, CPA | Tax and Accounting Manager

SAS: Kristy, what do you know a lot about?

Kristy: Concerts and live music!

SAS: Why do you know a lot about it?

Kristy:  We are music people. A visit to Red Rocks prompted our move to Denver.  My husband teaches music privately and in Douglas County Schools.

SAS: What are your favorite 3 businesses in Denver related to music?

Kristy:  1) Red Rocks – no word needed.  Best acoustics, most gorgeous scenery and best overall concert vibe.

2) Fiddlers Green Amphitheater – close to South Suburbs, great venue with awesome views, larger – holds around 17k people.

3) Fillmore Auditorium – Great setup, newly remodeled I believe.  Gives you the up close and personal concert experience.

Katy Luedtke, PMP | Accounting Operations Manager

SAS: Katy, what do you know a lot about?

Katy: Sushi!

SAS: Why do you know a lot about it?

Katy:  Because it’s delicious!

SAS: What are your 3 favorite sushi places?

Katy:  1) Sushi Den is my favorite place if I am feeling fancy.

2) Junz is my favorite neighborhood sushi restaurant in South Denver

3) Namikos is my favorite neighborhood sushi in the great Denver area.

All have really great quality sushi and fun atmospheres! Oh, and the drinks are pretty yummy, too!

Kailey Campbell | Lead Accounting Administrator

SAS: Kailey, what do you know a lot about?

Kailey: Butterflies!

SAS: Why do you know a lot about it?

Kailey:  I started out my career as an entomologist and one of my first jobs had the title of “Butterfly Wrangler”

SAS: What are your 3 favorite places in Denver to find butterflies?

Kailey:

  1. Butterflies at Chatfield Farms  –  a seasonal butterfly greenhouse – has quiet mornings where you can have an intimate moment with these remarkable insects. A great place for photography too!
  2. Butterfly Pavilion in Westminster has a huge variety of exotic butterflies and moths year-round and many interesting  events on evenings and weekends. Especially good for families with young kids.
  3. The Denver Museum of Nature and Science is very educational, regarding not only butterflies but all kinds of insects and animals! Especially helpful for learning about our local ecology and species.

Daphne Howard | Senior Staff Accountant

SAS: Daphne, what do you know a lot about?

Daphne: I am by no means an expert, but I love to garden!

SAS: Why do you know a lot about it?

Daphne: Most weekends, weather permitting, you can find me weeding, pruning and planting in our yard. There has been a lot of trial and error since moving here from the south, where everything grows, but I am learning.

SAS: What are your favorite places in Denver for gardening?

Daphne: I like to support local nurseries like O’Toole’s Garden Center and Creekside Gardens.

There you have it, the best of Denver in gardening, butterflies, sushi, and concerts! Let us know what you think of our lists!
